Welcome
Allow us to extend a warm welcome to the website of the Howard School, Elford and thank you for visiting.
Please check the diary for daily school announcements.
We are a thriving school set in a picturesque village that welcomes children aged 4 to 11. We maintain close links with The Howard Pre-School and Rawlett Community Sports College. Extra curricula activities are offered five days a week, including French, Music, Art, Environmental Studies, Drama, Dance, Football, String and Woodwind tuition. Nutritious meals are prepared in our own kitchen and a school bus service operates from Harlaston.
Our children enjoy a rich and varied curriculum, delivered in a caring and supportive environment by highly skilled and enthusiastic staff. We encourage and support a wide range of initiatives and resources to enrich our children's learning, including:
- High level of computer literacy throughout the school
- Interactive whiteboards in all 4 classrooms
- Active school council
- Home school partnership
- Family learning initiative
- Large secure playing field
- Purpose-built medical room and secure entrance lobby
- Fully accessible building
- Conservation area
- Inter-school communication and networking
- Strong links with the church, village and wider community
Details of the new National Primary Curriculum may be found via a link on the Parents Page.

The school has an idyllic location in one of the nicest villages in South Staffs. There is open country all around and no through roads within its vicinity that may present a danger to pupils.
There is an excellent potted history of the school and indeed of the whole village, at village residents Ron & Jean's site here.Mission Statement

School Uniform
All our school uniform is stocked at Buxton and Bonnetts in Tamworth. Uniform and P.E. kit is as follows:
- Uniform
- Grey skirt/trousers
- White polo shirt - red polo shirts will not be available, but may still be worn if already purchased
- Red sweatshirt/cardigan (with logo)
- Red check dress (summer)
- Sensible shoes (no trainers) - preferably black - or sensible sandals (summer) - not available from Buxton and Bonnetts.
P.E. Kit
- Red T-shirt (with logo) - for games
- Black cycle shorts (girls)
- Black football shorts (boys)
- Black jogging bottoms/tracksuit (winter)
- Trainers/pumps - not available from Buxton and Bonnetts.
The majority of children in the school now wear school uniform and look extremely smart, but unfortunately, when it comes to P.E. kit, things go a little 'pear-shaped'.
As the school continues to grow, the children will be invited to take part in more and more inter-school sporting activities, so it will be essential that the children wear the correct P.E. kit. Therefore, we ask that all children have the correct kit in school.
School Meals
School meals are provided by Staffordshire County Council Catering Service. Please telephone the school for the current cost. Please ensure that money for the week is sent to school on a Monday and is secure in an envelope showing the name and class of your child.
The Lunch Bunch is the County Catering Services' way of promoting healthy eating and encouraging children to think about the food they eat and the exercise they do. For more information please visit the Catering Service Lunch Bunch webpage
Menus are planned on a six weekly cycle ensuring that there is variety and choice throughout the weeks. A winter menu is offered - with warm wholesome meals for the cold, rainy months and a summer menu - with more salads, lighter dishes and picnic style foods for those warm sunny days.
